About data and statistics

The Tariff & Trade Data platform provides official tariff and import data for more than 150 economies, including annual data from 1996 onwards for many of them. It aggregates and disseminates official information about applied tariffs and import data notified by WTO Members in the WTO's Integrated Data Base (IDB) and bound duties (agreed maximum tariffs) and other commitments recorded in the WTO's Consolidated Tariff Schedules (CTS) database.

Access to the WTO's IDB and CTS databases

The dissemination of the information contained in the Integrated Database (IDB) and Consolidated Tariff Schedules (CTS) Databases shall be done in accordance with Annex 4 of the decision adopted by the Committee on Market Access (CMA) (G/MA/367). There are certain restrictions on the use and dissemination of IDB/CTS information that all users must agree to in order to access the database.

Rewiring global value chains in a changing global environment

Global value chains are the backbone of the world economy, even at a time when they are undergoing structural and policy-driven changes in the face of a rapidly changing global environment.

Over the past two decades, international production networks have been tested in various ways - by the COVID-19 pandemic, by intensifying geopolitical frictions, by financial shocks and by accelerating climate challenges.  These overlapping crises have sparked debates about deglobalization - reducing dependence on trading partners - and reshoring - returning production processes to the home economy.

WTO – IMF Tariff Tracker

The World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have joint efforts to monitor changes in applied tariff duties. 

This WTO – IMF tariff tracker aims to improve transparency regarding tariff actions due to their trade and macroeconomic implications. The Tariff Tracker records initial levels and changes in effective applied duties, along with their implementation dates, at the bilateral and product levels. The dataset initially focuses on the policies of the largest trading countries and will eventually be extended. It covers all trading partners of these countries and all products at the chapter level of the Harmonized System.
Continuously updated, this dataset consolidates information from various sources, including WTO notifications, the WTO Trade Monitoring Database, and external media, in collaboration with the IMF. To meet the high demand for this information, the dataset is accessible via the WTO Tariff & Trade Data platform, enhancing transparency and supporting informed decision-making in the international trading community.
